Karen Gill
News Xtend, News Australia's digital marketing agency, has promoted Karen Gill to head of sales and client success.
News Xtend operates as a third-party performance agency powered by the News Australia ecosystem, giving small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) access to the company's suite of media assets.
Gill most recently served as head of strategy for News Australia, where she’s served for eight years.
As head of strategy, Gill led go-to-market strategy, product development and the rollout of programmatic TV, digital out-of-home and audio.
She steps into her new role alongside peer Stephen Warren, head of digital advertising operations.
Sheree Richardson, general manager of direct sales at News Australia, said SMBs were no longer just looking for a media buyer.
"They want a strategic partner who understands their business, and Karen's appointment signals our commitment to that," said Richardson.
"Her commercial depth, combined with six years working alongside Stephen, means every client has a senior leader who knows their business, not just their campaign."
Gill said the programmatic and data opportunity in the SMB market was one the agency was well placed to lead.
"I'm genuinely excited about the direction the agency is headed,” said Gill.
“The foundation is strong and the programmatic and data opportunity in the SMB market is one we are well placed to lead.”
