News Corp Australasia has restructured its publishing leadership, with two senior appointments and changes to state managing directors.

The moves follow the retirement of Mark Reinke -  managing director & publisher - state, communities and sport -- who joined the leadership team in 2019 and is leaving at the end of the financial year after 40 years in the corporate world.

“Mark’s departure provides us with a natural moment to evolve,” said News Corp Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller.

“It also highlights the exceptional depth of talent we have at News and positions our leaders to broaden their impact as we deliver our next phase of growth.”

Nicholas Gray -- MD & publisher, The Australian & Prestige and MD, Tech Platform Partnerships -- has been appointed managing director and publisher, state and communities. He has been with News for 14 years.

Mike Connaghan --  managing director, commercial content -- has been appointed managing director and publisher, The Australian and Prestige, while continuing to lead the company's commercial content agencies. He joined News in 2020.

Free News and Lifestyle remains under the leadership of Pippa Leary.

On the state managing director level, Laura Maxwell expands her role to state MD, Queensland and commercial director, with oversight of northern businesses and national commercial product development across the state and communities publishing group.

John Lehmann, a former editor of The Australian, relocates to become state MD, Victoria/Tasmania and advocacy director, with oversight of southern businesses and responsibility for scaling the national advocacy agenda.

Zac Skulander has been promoted to state MD, New South Wales, continuing his national work across product and partnerships.

Melissa Librandi continues as state MD for South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The changes also mark the departure of Agostino Giramondo, who is leaving News to pursue new opportunities. Giramondo had oversight of Victorian operations and Melbourne teams.

News Corp Australasia executive chairman Michael Miller said the changes signalled the company's intent to build on the publisher model to be more agile, integrated and connected to audiences.
