News Corp appoints Kristin Carlos to head digital platforms

News Corp Australia has appointed Kristin Carlos to head its digital platform business as managing director of commercial platform.

In her new role, reporting to chief financial officer Michael Ford, Carlos will oversee the business’ platforms including News Xtend which specialises in marketing solutions for small and medium businesses.

“Kristin has a wealth of digital experience in a range of senior roles,” Ford says.

“She brings to News Corp Australia a customer-centric focus to technology solutions and demonstrated success in developing high-performance teams. It’s great to have her join us and we all look forward to working closely with Kristin.”

Carlos has spent more than a decade in various senior executive roles including director of connected entertainment at Yahoo! and head Qantas’ digital & entertainment division. She was also head of media partnerships for Australia and New Zealand at Facebook.

“The role presents an exciting opportunity to grow the digital platform business and to lead a key function at Australia's premier digital media company,” Carlos says.

News Corp Australia’s Platform division leverages News Xtend and News Connect to provide end-to-end customer experience to a variety of clients. News Xtend, established seven years ago, provides advice to small and medium businesses to market themselves digitally. News Connect collects two billion data points, from News Corp Australia websites and apps, as well as from partners including Near, flybuys, Qantas Red Planet, and TEG, to connect clients with customers.
