News.com.au upgraded app so you ‘don’t miss a ding’

News.com.au has updated its mobile app with a marketing campaign, “don’t miss a ding”. 

Key features include an expanded homepage for quick access to breaking news and top stories across content categories including politics, finance, sport, lifestyle, travel and entertainment.

Users also get the news quiz, In The Know, now only in the app.

The upgraded app’s marketing campaign "don't miss a ding" is built around the sound and behaviour of app notifications.

"The news cycle this year is moving rapidly – every day, things are happening that will personally impact every Australian, in ways they haven't even realised yet," said Mick Carroll, free news and lifestyle editor-in-chief.

Managing director and publisher Pippa Leary said the investment in the upgrade marks the beginning of a series of improvements aimed at boosting audience engagement and delivering better outcomes for clients.

For advertisers, the app offers new ad formats including full-screen takeovers and social-style advertisements, with more than 20 creative features.
