Packer pulls out the stops for casino opening

James Packer was in good company to herald the launch of his new $4.5 billion casino in Macau, China, bringing a who's who of Hollywood to the red carpet opening.

Along with Packer's new girlfriend, Mariah Carey, Leonardo Di Caprio, Robert De Niro and legendary director Martin Scorcese graced the event, 9News revealed. A reputed $100 million short film directed by Scorcese was released to promote the opening of the facility. The casino has made headlines not just for its Hollywood visitors. Its launch comes as Macau has been suffering a heavy decline in gaming revenue due to a crackdown on corruption in China.

Grey Sydney now agency of record for Cure Brain Cancer

Grey Sydney has come onboard as agency of record for brain cancer research organisation, Cure Brain Cancer.

Head of marketing and communications for the organisation, Julia Schaefer, said Cure Brain Cancer wanted to bring in the “most brilliant minds in the world to move the dial on brain cancer survival, which is appallingly low".

Publicis Groupe partners to create venture capital fund

French multi-national advertising and public relations company Publicis has linked up with telecoms group Orange to establish a global multi-corporate venture capital fund which will invest in European startups.

The fund, IrisNext, is aiming to support companies involved in corporate digital transformation. A letter of intent has been signed between Publicis and Orange to get the ball rolling on the initiative.

Google sets up 150 million digital innovation fund

As part of its multi-pronged Digital News Initiative, Google has announced its intention to establish a major new fund to support European publishers looking to establish new digital projects, The Guardian has reported.

The funding source, which will go live in April, will award 50 million annually to approved applicants with "no strings attached", including no requirement to use Google products. Google said it intends to be "more collaborative" with publishers going forward.

Hugh Jackman unveils Qantas Indigenous leadership initiative

Qantas and its brand ambassador actor, Hugh Jackman, have unveiled a new grant funding program to support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wishing to become leaders in their communities.

The initiative, which will see Qantas partner with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF), will be backed by a $1.4 million donation from the Qantas Foundation.
