McDonald's hires ex-eBay, Ripcurl marketer

Digital marketer Dane Sharp, who has held positions with eBay, Under Armour and Ripcurl in Australia, has been hired as digital experience manager for McDonald's Australia.

A note on his LinkedIn explains that McDonald's has "bold plans to evolve the customer experience for the digital era" and that his "team is leading the worldwide effort to develop and orchestrate digital initiatives across every facet of our interactions with customers" including new brand engagement, e-commerce, service delivery, and digital content capabilities.

Foxtel announces first price rise in 18 months

Foxtel reveals first price rise in 18 months as basic monthly package climbs from $25 to $26 a month. The rise has prompted a backlash on social media from users but will potentially boost its annual profits more than $30 million.

The decision comes just 18 months after Foxtel slashed the price of its basic service from $49 to $25 a month.

Fairfax Media appoints Kristiaan Kroon

Kristiaan Kroon has been appointed national agency sales and commercial partnerships director, responsible for Fairfax Media's national agency sales, trading strategy and commercial partnerships.

Kroon, who joined Fairfax a year ago as director of commercial development and partnerships, continues to report to Australian publishing media commercial and marketing services director Tom Armstrong.

Cadreon to plug into Rubicon's programmatic platform

Rubicon Project and IPG Mediabrands’ Cadreon have announced a global partnership where Rubicon's Guaranteed Orders programmatic platform will be used by IPG's ad tech unit.

Cadreon will from now on use the full-stack direct order automation solution to power the reservation of direct inventory across desktop, mobile, and video advertising.
