The Sydney Harbour Bridge turned into a glowing, animated celebration of colour and movement on Sydney’s New Year’s Eve 2026 in a project via VANDAL.
Commissioned by the City of Sydney, the projection content was developed using DNA sequences from Australian native plants, created in collaboration with the Botanic Gardens of Sydney.
These datasets were translated into visual parameters within VANDAL’s generative animation workflows.
The midnight sequence was the result of close collaboration across the New Year’s Eve creative team, with projections, fireworks, lighting and music developed side by side.
VANDAL’s scope included creative direction, concept development, generative animation design and the delivery of projection content mapped specifically to the form and scale of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
