Netflix’s advertising tier subscribers now 94 million

Netflix now has more than 94 millions global monthly active users of its advertising-supported subscription tier.

And Netflix now has more 18-34-year-olds than any other US broadcast or cable network, according to Amy Reinhard, president of advertising.

She told the streaming platform's annual upfront that ad members are highly engaged, spending an average of 41 hours per month on Netflix.

“When you compare us to our competitors, attention starts much higher and ends much higher,” she said.

“And even more impressive, members pay as much attention to mid-roll ads as they do to the shows and the movies themselves,” she said.

What sets Netflix apart was the “ ability to marry art and science, combining best-in-class technology with the shows and movies that everyone is talking about and watching”.

“So while a lot of companies are either/or — either they have great technology, or they have great entertainment — our superpower has always been the fact that we have both,” Reinhard said.

“And because our audience is unique, engaged and attentive, a dollar spent on Netflix is more valuable than a dollar spent anywhere else.”

The Netflix Ads Suite, Netflix’s in-house advertising platform, is now live in the US and Canada, will be live this week in EMEA, and available in all 12 ad-supported countries by June.

“By controlling our own ad tech, we’ll be able to deliver newer tools, better measurement, and more creative formats,” Reinhard said.

The Netflix Ads Suite is also designed to help you tap into the magic that makes Netflix Netflix. And it does that in a few big ways.”

Marian Lee, Netflix’s CMO, said Netflix was always looking for creative ways to build brand and connect with fans.

“And when you partner with us, you will get the same treatment,” she said.

“The creative teams that work on our campaigns and drive conversation are the same ones that will work with your brands, too.”

The global streaming platform last month reported March quarter revenue of $US10.543 billion, slightly higher than Wall Street analysts expected.

Netflix hasn’t yet broken out advertising revenue as a line item on its regular results.

However, the company said it isn’t seeing any softness from ad buyers and newly released adtech enhancements will open revenue opportunities.

Netflix is maintaining its forecast for 2025 revenue of between $43.5 billion and $44.5 billion, which assumes healthy member growth, higher subscription pricing and a “rough doubling” of ad revenue.
