One of the world's largest food and beverage companies Nestlé has shortlisted three agencies for its Australian media pitch, according to industry insiders.

The shortlist includes, incumbent agency IPG's UM housed out of Sydney, Publicis' Starcom and one agency from WPP's GroupM, AdNews understands.

Within GroupM, Wavemaker holds confectionery company mondelez, EssenceMediacom holds confectionery company Mars and Mindshare won Unilever's $40M account in September.

Final pitches will take place at the end of November, after the local process started in March.

In September, Nestlé appointed a bespoke WPP agency OpenMind to the European arm, a similar approach may be on the table for AU.

The account last went to pitch in 2018, which saw UM take the account from Wavemaker.

UM, Publicis and GroupM declined to comment. AdNews has contacted Nestlé.

Nestlé is home to well-known brands including KitKat, Allen’s, Nescafe, Milo, Maggi, Uncle Tobys, Nespresso and Purina.

The company's latest local campaign is Milo's Mix It Up, which saw the world’s largest hot tub of Milo (world-record pending) aiming to refamiliarise teens and young adults with the drink, while also introducing them to Milo Pro, a new protein product.
