The National Basketball League has extended its multi-year media rights deal with ESPN in Australia and New Zealand, with all games now available to stream live on Disney+.

ESPN programming will continue on Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV in Australia and Sky in New Zealand, with free-to-air games staying with Network 10 on Sundays.

"We are thrilled to extend our distribution agreement with ESPN, and will continue to work closely together to ensure even more people can connect and access live NBL games," said NBL group chief executive David Stevenson.

"This new agreement reflects the NBL's remarkable evolution and increasing popularity, and marks another big step forward in the growth of our League.

“Our broadcast audiences have grown by 106% over the past three seasons, and we are confident this new deal will ensure that trend continues as we continue to be the fastest growing professional sporting league in the country."

Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand senior vice president and managing director Kylie Watson-Wheeler said ESPN on Disney+ gives a material boost to the NBL audience.

The new agreement includes the Ignite Cup, a new in-season tournament on Wednesday nights throughout the season, adding 21 games for a total of 166 games. The league's pre-season tournament, the Blitz, will also be available on ESPN on Disney+.

The NBL26 season starts September 18.
