Mamamia CEO Natalie Harvey has been awarded the Maureen Kerridge AM Scholarship.
Her career spans two decades at organisations including Seven Network, Mediacom and UM.
Harvey said winning the scholarship, felt like a full-circle experience, calling it “almost serendipitous”.
“I’m blown away. My first office job was in Maureen’s office at Seven Network. I was 19, wide eyed and impressionable,” she said.
“At the time, I didn’t realise how rare it was to have a woman leading a media company, it just felt normal. Her office was full of strong female leaders. Looking back, I know I had the best start in media that a young woman could ask for.
“Thanks to Maureen, I started my career believing that could be me one day. That early sense of possibility became the foundation for everything I’ve built since. To now be the recipient of the scholarship in her name is incredibly meaningful.
“I’m deeply grateful to CEW and Maureen’s family for this opportunity. I can’t wait to begin this journey, apply what I learn, and help shape bold, industry-leading initiatives in her honour.”
The Maureen Kerridge AM Scholarship, offered by advocacy group Chief Executive Women, was named after the first female CEO of a free-to-air television network in the world.
She died in 2020 and was posthumously made a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the television industry and charitable organisations.
Each year her family donates a $35,000 scholarship for one woman in advertising, media or television to study an executive level course of their own choosing, anywhere in the world.
