Nandos and Sphere Agency calls it quits

Food retailer Nandos and its creative agency The Sphere Agency have parted ways after an eight-year relationship.

Nandos managing director Norman Picker told AdNews that it was a mutual decision and both parties thought it was time to move on. Picker emphasised the great relationship Nandos has had with The Sphere Agency managing director Michael Abdul and said he was, "very happy with Michael and his crew."

Picker said the brand will not be looking to pitch its creative account anytime soon. The Melbourne-based retailer's marketing department works out of Sydney and will likely look at Sydney agencies when it decides to appoint a new agency.

Picker said Nandos is focusing on in-store, local and social media marketing, and doesn't need an agency for the moment. Picker said that his relationship with Abdul stretches back almost a decade, when Abdul was a Nandos franchisee.

Abdul said: "We've delivered eight years of serious and topical executions and are proud of the work. We have a solid relationship with Nandos' management and it was a mutual, amicable parting of ways."

Nandos has almost 300 outlets across Australia and New Zealand.
