Movers & Shakers: CHEP, Yahoo, Deloitte, PHD

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing, and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

CHEP Network promotes Jonny Berger
CHEP has promoted Jonny Berger to Sydney managing director and Mariana Rice to managing partner. Berger has been with the agency since March 2021 and previously worked at Clemenger BBDO and M&C Saatchi.

iProspect Sydney names managing director
iProspect Sydney has promoted Marcelle Gomez to managing director. Gomez has more than 20 years’ experience in various leadership roles across planning, account management, investment and general agency management and potency in driving businesses forward. She joined iProspect 12 months ago as general manager.

Yahoo elevates Paul Sigaloff
Yahoo has promoted Paul Sigaloff to vice president, head of APAC. Sigaloff was previously vice president of AUNZ INSEA. In his new role, Sigaloff will lead sales for the ad technology business across the entire Asia Pacific region. Sigaloff has been with Yahoo for eight years. He launched Yahoo, formerly Verizon Media, into the Australia and New Zealand market in 2018.

It’s Friday appoints head of strategy
It’s Friday has named Cate Mathers as head of strategy. Mathers joins It’s Friday with more than 20 years’ experience in creative, digital, CX, and media agencies. She spent the last eight years as head of strategy at The Works and has previously worked with brands such as McDonald’s, Canadian Club, Qantas, Subaru, Playstation, Pepsi International, Telstra, Optus, and P&G.

Deloitte adds executive creative director
Deloitte has appointed Jennie Morris as executive creative director. Morris will work alongside chief marketing officer Rochelle Tognetti on Deloitte’s marquee brand and strategic marketing plays. Morris returns to Australia after more than 15 years working across the Middle East and Asia Pacific, where she worked as the global creative lead on the Emirates Airlines business at BBDO Dubai and later became the first female executive creative director in the United Arab Emirates.

PHD creates new digital role
PHD Australia has appointed Gemma Beeley to the newly created role of national head of digital. Beeley joins from UM where she had held the role of head of digital – Sydney. She joined UM Australia in 2016, after relocating from the UK, where she worked with agencies including Wavemaker (formerly MEC), UM and Maxus.

BMF bolsters senior creative department
BMF has appointed Tom Hoskins as creative director. Hoskins has worked in the UK, US, Asia, and Australia, with senior and creative leadership roles at TBWA, Havas, Y&R, and iris. He has worked with a premier suite of world class brands including Adidas, Afterpay, Apple, Diageo, Gillette, Nestlé, Netflix, NRL, Samsung and Sony. At BMF, Hoskins will work on a range of clients across the business.

BWM Isobar Sydney boosts creative team
BWM Isobar Sydney has bolstered its creative offering, taking on Nick Cole and Pat Allenby as associate creative directors, along with creative team Heidi Rabbits and Eliza Smith. Cole and Allenby join from The Royals Sydney, a stint which saw them help win a number of pitches for the agency. Rabbitts and Smith joined late last year from VCCP, where they worked on brands including Cadbury, Compare the Market, and the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

Innocean Australia appoints chief strategist
Innocean Australia has appointed Gual Barwell chief strategy officer. Barwell will head the strategic discipline across the agency, providing leadership across business, creative, communications, digital and social strategy. Barwell has more than 17 years’ experience as an integrated planner. He has recently returned from five years in the US, where he was SVP – group planning director at DDB Chicago and before that, global strategy director at JWT New York.

Clemenger BBDO welcomes back Sonny Adorjan
Sonny Adorjan has returned to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne as a senior art director. He re-joins Clemenger BBDO Melbourne after 17 years in the UK including 12 years at the AMV BBDO London office. During his time at AMV BBDO, he’s been responsible for work across Guinness, The Economist and Pepsi. He also spent time at Mother London and BBC Creative on accounts including The Times, The RAF, Money Supermarket, Sky and BBC Children In Need.

BBC Studios names head of branded services
Chrissie Carras has been appointed head of branded services for BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand. Carras will lead in the territory for BBC Studios branded channels and programme offerings. In addition to overseeing programming, presentation, media planning, advertising and brand partnerships, Carras will also be responsible for the branded services marketing team. She joined BBC Studios in 2010 and was most recently head of programming and advertising sales.

QMS names head of people and culture
QMS has appointed Jodi Rosenthal head of people and culture. Rosenthal, most recently at employee experience platform, Circle In, joins the executive leadership team under chief operating officer – corporate, Mal Pearce.

-lution appoints new partner
Marketing transformation consultancy -lution has appointed Karina Russo as partner and director of operations. Russo returns to Melbourne from London where she spent the past six years working agency side, as well as building and running global in-house agencies for King, the creators of Candy Crush, and Entain, owner of brands including Ladbrokes Coral, Bwin and Party Casino.

VMG promotes Sal Daoud
Independent Australian-owned communications company VMG has promoted Sal Daoud to the newly created role of head of growth & partnerships. Daoud has previously worked as head of sales for two of VMG’s brands, digital marketing agency Sillyfish and bespoke out-of-home specialist Captive Vision Outdoor. In the new role, Daoud will be responsible for exploring growth opportunities for VMG brands as well as collaborations across the group, including Yakkazoo, Revolution360, Frontier Media, CVO, VIM, Sillyfish, and Aspire Talent Group.
