Motion Sickness has been appointed global creative and brand partner for Shine Lawyers, following a competitive pitch.

The Auckland-based agency will lead creative strategy across Shine’s markets, continuing its push into Australia.

Motion Sickness general manager Alex McManus said the agency was drawn to Shine’s ambitions and willingness to go beyond traditional work.

“We’re stoked to be working with Shine Lawyers. They came to us with big ambitions and a real appetite for doing things differently, which is the kind of brief we love,” McManus said.

“The work we pitched pushed well beyond traditional advertising, and it’s exciting to be partnering with a client who’s ready to lean into that.

“Australia is a big focus for us as we continue to grow, and Shine’s people, driven by a strong conviction to right wrongs, are who we want to be working with.”

Shannan Madden, chief marketing officer at Shine Lawyers, said the agency’s approach stood out during the process.

“Motion Sickness’ work stood out because it doesn’t look or feel like advertising. Their thinking is fresh, unexpected, and gets to the heart of how people connect with ideas,” Madden said. “That’s exactly what we need as we continue to evolve our brand.”

The win adds to a strong run for Motion Sickness in 2025, following international recognition for its work, including two Cannes Lions Grand Prix earlier this year.

Shine Lawyers is the latest addition to Motion Sickness’ expanding client list, which includes Ora and Les Mills International.
