MKR rules in reality Mexican standoff

In a night that saw three major reality shows battle it out in the same time slot, it was the launch of Channel Seven's My Kitchen Rules which won out, commanding a total audience share of almost 1.6 million viewers in the major capitals.

However, the first episode of My Kitchen Rules was down 5%, or 77,000 viewers, on last year’s launch when 1.67 million tuned in.

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, which pulled in 1.2 million on Sunday night for its Network Ten debut, slumped to 755,00 last night, according to the overnight metro OzTAM figures.

Despite the drop, it still managed to lift Ten's Monday 7.30-9pm slot by 38% in under 55s, 28% in 25 to 54s and 25% in total people versus the yearly average.

The Block Triple Threat just about beat I'm A Celebrity to second place in the three-way battle scoring 805,000 viewers for Channel 9.

The Block is down 24% in total people and down 21% in 25 to 54s, compared with the same amount of episodes of Fans V Faves in 2014.

Network Seven's overall share for last night came in at 23.9%; Network Nine's was 18.8%; Network Ten 15.1% and the ABC 14.3%.
