Truss comes out against media reforms

Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader Warren Truss has given an interview to The Australian in which he takes aim at proposed media reforms.

Truss accuses regional networks of maligning opponents and then attempting to force rule changes through by threatening to cut news services if they're not implemented.

Truss fully supports Prime Minister Tony Abbott's policy of refusing to consent to media reform without industry consensus.

Publishers face greater adblocking threat

Following Apple's decision to enable adblocking on its mobile devices, News Corp's global senior vice-president for strategy Raju Narisetti has warned companies are "in denial" about this threat.

Speaking to The Australian, Narisetti said the problem was "real and growing".

"It's going to be a growing problem because the vast majority of digital advertising revenue is based on serving ad impressions. The other challenge is if you have a completely ad driven model, then you are at a much higher risk," Narisetti said.

Top of the Lake major success for Screen Australia

TV series Top of the Lake has become the most lucrative investment ever by Screen Australia, "by a country mile" according to its CEO Fiona Cameron.

The drama has pulled in more than $5 million after being sold to 71 territories.

The Australian reports this is an embarrassment for the ABC, which pulled out of the joint production with the BBC and the Sundance Channel over concerns the New Zealand-set show was not justifably an Australian production.
