Media shares take a hammering in ASX meltdown

Share in media companies fell hard on the ASX today as the local market recorded its worst falls since the GFC on the back of tumbling oil prices. 

At the close, Seven West Media shares were down 20% to $0.115, Nine was down 8.4% to $1.30 and outdoor advertising leader oOh!media shed 18.8% to $1.94. 

Village Roadshow was down 8.2% to $3.10, News Corp almost 5% to $16.21 and HT&E 10% to $1.350. 

WPP AUNZ slipped 3.4% to $0.57 and broadcaster Southern Cross 7.6% to $0.545. 

The ASX200 index was down 7.33%.
