Media owners backed the Media Federation of Australia’s NGEN community with sponsorship of its annual Halloween parties in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Tubi hosted the Sydney event with Nova Entertainment, highlighting its library of free horror films.

It also backed the Brisbane and Melbourne celebrations, joined by sponsors including Nova Entertainment, Nine, QMS, Seven and Mamamia.

The Halloween parties mark the end of a year of workshops run by NGEN, the MFA’s professional development program for those with less than five years’ experience in media. Since 2009, NGEN has trained thousands of emerging professionals and now has around 3,000 active members nationally.

More than 350 attendees gathered in Sydney, where drag performer Trinity the Tuck, star of Tubi’s original film SLAY, performed alongside Nova’s Joel Creasey, who emceed the night with Jack Charles from The Chrissie Swan Show.

About 200 more joined the events in Melbourne and Brisbane.
