Media agency new business wins fall by 40% in Australia

The value of new business wins by media agencies fell by 41.2% in the six months to June, according to numbers aggregated by consultancy R3.

The dollar value of new business wins was $US13.9 million for the first six months of the year compared to $US23.6 million for the same period last year.

The number of successful pitches fell to 62 from 96. 

However, the fall isn't as severe when combining both media and creative agency wins, which totalled $US63 million for the six months to June, a fall of 8.7%, compared to $US68.9 million for the same period last year. 

The combined number of new business wins was 183, down from 263. 

Among media agencies Initiative headed the new business league in Australia for June 2020, according to R3.

Recent wins include Pernod Ricard, Aussie Home Loans, Genuine Parts Company and Repco, with revenue recorded at $US2.5 million.

PHD is listed by R3 as second with wins including Bayer Digital, Diageo and Spotlight Group. 

Third is Starcom.
