McDonald's pinged over 99 cent delivery ad

McDonald's Australia has been found in breach of advertising standards over three TV commercials displaying a 99 cent delivery fee.

The Ad Standards Community Panel ruled the claim was likely to mislead viewers about the true cost of delivery.

The ads featured a golden circular logo reading "99c DELIVERY FEE" alongside AFL-themed scenarios.

The panel found menu prices for delivery orders through the MyMacca's app run 20-25% higher than for pickup.

The ads were found to have breached section 2.1 of the AANA Food and Beverages Advertising Code.

McDonald's said it was disappointed with the outcome but would comply.

"We respect the final decision from Ad Standards and are modifying the advertisements accordingly," the company said.
