Melbourne digital marketing agency Impressive has promoted three staff, with Sam Makwana moving from SEO lead to general manager after six years with the business.

Makwana takes on agency-wide responsibility across people, process, finance and strategy. Rachel Harvey becomes SEO director and Maryellen Arkinson takes the role of group performance director.

Impressive founder and CEO Robert Tadros said Makwana had played a significant role in shaping the business over six years leading the SEO team.

"Sam has played a huge role in shaping the business. He understands the culture, the team, and what it takes to deliver great outcomes for our clients,” Tadros said.

"Promoting him to GM is a natural next step. He has the respect of the team, strong operational thinking, and a clear vision for how we continue to standardise and productise parts of the business.

“He's also helping drive the development of our award-winning SEO technology offering, Skailed.

Makwana said the role was a natural progression.

"I'm more than ready to take on a wider leadership role at Impressive,” he said.

“Having lived and breathed our culture for years, I'm looking forward to taking the rigour I have established around our SEO offering and applying that across the business as we continue to push the boundaries of what the Skailed platform can achieve.”

Tadros said the remaining promotions were equally deserved.

"Rachel and Maryellen's promotions are incredibly well deserved,” Tadros said.

“They have consistently stepped up as leaders and been instrumental in the results we're delivering for clients. Rachel continues to evolve our SEO capability, while Maryellen has built a strong performance team that consistently drives commercial outcomes across paid media.”

The promotions follow 12 months of growth driven by new business wins and expanded scope with existing clients.
