LIzzie Young is leaving Nine Entertainment to become CEO of WeAre8, an advertising platform that donates part of its revenue to charity.

Nine's managing director of local markets and group marketing had been a candidate for CEO at Nine but Mike Sneesby, then head of streaming platform Stan, won that contest.

Sneesby told Nine newspapers: “Lizzie Young has made a significant contribution to Nine since she joined us 12 years ago and we thank her for her passion and energy which she brought every day. We wish her well in her new role as CEO of WeAre8 in Australia.”

Young is the second direct report of Sneesby to depart since he replaced Hugh Marks almost a year ago. Publishing and digital chief Chris Janz, another candidate for the Nine CEO role, left in July last year.

WeAre8, a London-based sustainable advertising platform that pays users to watch ads, was founded by Australian Sue Fennessy who also founded, and is still the largest shareholder, Standard Media Index.

The company last week announced it had raised $US15 million in a series b fuinding round from Channel 4 and Centerstone Capital.
