Nintendo Australia has reappointed Leo Burnett Melbourne to its $20 million ad account, in a pitch that is believed to have included Japanese ad agency Dentsu, AdNews can reveal.
AdNews understands Dentsu took part in the pitch ahead of its arrival in Australia next year to service the Toyota Yaris account, as part of a three-way pitch. Dentsu declined to comment.
Nintendo told AdNews a fourth undisclosed agency was also invited to pitch, but declined to do so.
Nintendo Australia director of marketing Greg Arthurton confirmed that seven-year incumbent Leo Burnett will continue to handle creative duties, but would not comment on how long the contract is for.
Arthurton said: “After a process that lasted around two months and involved three agencies, I am happy to announce that Leo Burnett has retained the Nintendo business. After a seven-year partnership, we needed to ensure that Nintendo had the best possible partner for the future and I'm happy that Leo Burnett is that agency.
