
The 2025 King's Birthday honours list features media industry figures with awards made under the Order of Australia.
Journalist and broadcaster Phillip Adams has been made a Companion of the Order of Australia, the current highest level of Australian honours.
The former Late Night Live host on the ABC’s Radio National was honoured for “eminent service to broadcast media, to journalism, to the arts, to cultural leadership, and to the community”.
He started his working life in advertising. "I was forced to leave school before completing my secondary education and the only job I could get was working in advertising."
Television industry pioneer and owner Bruce Gordon was made an Officer of the Order of Australia.
The owner of WIN Corporation since 1979, and the biggest shareholder in Nine Entertainment, was honoured for “distinguished service to the media and television industries, and as a benefactor for sports and the arts”.
Journalist Deborah Hutton was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to “community health and to media”. She is a former editor at large and fashion editor at the Australian Women's Weekly.

John Coetzee, for eminent service to the arts, particularly literature, to literary studies, to tertiary education, and to animal welfare. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2003.

Bruce Gordon, for distinguished service to the media and television industries, and as a benefactor for sports and the arts.
The late James Daniel Remedio, Bendigo, Victoria, for distinguished service to the First Nations broadcast media industry, and to the Indigenous community of Australia.

Sally Loane, Darlinghurst, NSW, for significant service to business in board and governance roles, to charitable organisations, and to broadcasting.
The late Matt Peacock, NSW, for significant service to the broadcast media as a journalist.
Cherie Romaro, for significant service to the broadcast media, particularly radio, and to the community.
Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)
Ken Casellas, Nedlands, WA, for service to journalism, and to sport.
Deborah Hutton, for service to community health, and to media.
Michael Loughlin Scanlon, Newcastle, NSW, for service to media as a journalist, and to community history.
The late Ian Cousins, Queensland, for service to the community of the Gold Coast. General Sales Manager, Southern Cross Media, 1995-2010.
