Kayo Sports has become the official broadcaster of VFL, expanding its AFL coverage to include the Victoria state league competition.
The platform will stream 16 matches across the opening 13 rounds of the Smithy's VFL home and away season, with at least one match per round guaranteed. Live coverage of the VFL finals is also included.
An undisclosed number of broadcasts will serve as curtain-raisers to AFL matches, giving fans the opportunity to watch VFL and AFL back-to-back on the same platform.
VFL coverage will also extend to Foxtel and international partner WatchAFL.
The addition joins Kayo Sports' existing Fox Footy coverage, which carries every AFL home and away match live, ad-break free during play and in 4K.
“Foxtel Group invests more than $1 billion each year in sports rights and production to bring fans closer to the games they love while helping to drive greater participation at grassroots levels,” said Adam Howarth, Foxtel Group executive director - commercial, sport.
“The VFL plays a vital role in the AFL ecosystem and the expansion of our partnership with the AFL to include VFL will help increase visibility for the competition while strengthening the development layers that keep the game thriving.”
Kayo SPORT's broadcast of the VFL begins on Saturday 21 March when the Richmond Tigers play the Southport Sharks at 10am AEDT.
“We are thrilled to be expanding the broadcast coverage of the Smithy’s VFL. This is a wonderful result and will bolster the exposure of the competition right across the country,” said Matthew Chun, AFL executive general manager of finance, broadcast and infrastructure.
