Kantar Australia is extending itsanalytics and business intelligence with the launch of a dedicated practice and hiring new staff.

Jarrod Payne is promoted to Consulting Director from his previous role of Head of Brand Strategy and Brand Z Australia, Rob Kramer has been appointed as Analytics Consultant and Yichao Sun as Senior Project Manager.

Kantar Australia Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Sinton says businesses are dealing with unparalleled volumes of customer data, with many finding themselves data rich but insights poor and impact short.

“Data exists in silos, is typically unstructured and un-contextualised and not always meaningful. Data only becomes valuable if it’s effectively managed into a single consumer truth," he says.

"Analytics is too often being allowed to distance deep consumer and brand understanding from business decision-making.”

Kantar’s analytics practice unifies a global network of more than 1,500 data scientists, analytics consultants, technologists and data designer.

The global holding company, WPP plc, WPP AUNZ’s majority shareholder, is selling a majority stake in Kantar to Bain Capital Private Equity for GBP2.5 billion (AUD4.48 billion).

ASX-listed WPP AUNZ expects to realise about $150 million as its share of the global sale of 60% of the data, research, consulting and analytics business.
