The Monkeys co-founder Justin Drape has launched a new venture, Exceptional Alien, alongside former M&C Saatchi executive creative director Michael Canning.

Drape announced the launch of Exceptional Alien on LinkedIn describing it as a "borderless global creative community".

Speaking to AdNews, he confirmed the business will officially launch in August with a new website and some notable investors and partners involved.

The new business features editorial content including travel experiences and projects of global creators and places that inspire them.

In addition to this, Drape says there is a podcast series, an orginal travel series and some tech in the works. All of which is in various stages of development.

The team at Exceptional Alien is currently made up of co-founders Drape and Canning and a studio team which includes Lauren O'Shea, Mikaela Aitken, John Eagleton and Jacinta Manivong.

Drape departed The Monkeys earlier this year after founding the advertising agency with Mark Green and Scott Nowell in 2006.

The agency was acquired in 2017 by Accenture Interactive which saw the three founders pocket a reported $63 million.

Canning has spent the last couple of years consulting. Prior to that he worked in top creative roles with M&C Saatchi, 72andSunny, Leo Burnett and BMF.
