Junkee Media has renewed its daily news show, The Junkee Takeaway, with Facebook for a third season.

As part of the three-year deal, the youth-focused publication will produce 240 episodes for Facebook Watch each year.

“This agreement will allow Junkee to make significant investments in public interest journalism, which will help us reach new audiences and tell the stories that matter to young Australians on a scale that will have real impact,” says Junkee editorial director Rob Stott.

The Junkee Takeaway was launched in 2019 to attract the hard-to-reach youth audience with videos, each three to five minutes long, of news stories from politics and pop culture to science, sexuality and social justice issues.

In its first 200 episodes, The Junkee Takeaway attracted more than 200 million views on Facebook Watch, including more than 400,000 views in a single day.

The Junkee Takeaway will return to Facebook Watch in August this year.
