Saatchi & Saatchi Melbourne has promoted planning director Joe Heath to the role of head of strategy, effective immediately.

Before joining Saatchi & Saatchi, Heath was director of innovation at CHE Proximity in Melbourne where he established Order over Chaos, an innovation unit which solved complex problems through extensive and open collaboration between engaged stakeholders.

Saatchi & Saatchi Melbourne chief strategy officer Alex Speakman says Heath has excelled since joining the agency in 2017.

“Joe has excelled in his role over the past four-plus years leading the strategy for Toyota, playing a key role in the development of iconic work and helping to lift the level of strategic thinking across the board at the agency,” says Speakman.

“More than that, Joe has become an integral part of the agency leadership team."

Heath has worked in planning departments across Clemenger BBDO, AMV BBDO London and BBH (Bartle Bogle Hegarty) London.

The appointment further strengthens the agency’s integrated strategy department, with Speakman to remain as chief strategy officer in Melbourne and Heath leading a strategy team across brand, retail, digital, social, innovation planning and CX.

Saatchi & Saatchi Melbourne GM Georgia Jones says Heath’s broad experience gives him a unique perspective.

“Joe is one of the best strategists I have had the pleasure of working with. His deep and varied experience gives him a unique perspective that makes him not only a fantastic department lead but also an incredible partner for our clients,” says Jones.

“Between Joe, Alex and the wider team, I feel confident we have one of the most formidable strategy departments in the country.”
