James Sawyer.
Marketing intelligence platform Prophet has appointed James Sawyer to the newly created role of vice president sales and partnerships.
The appointment makes Sawyer Prophet's foundational hire in Sydney, brought on to meet growing client demand.
"The media ecosystem has never been more complex, which is exactly why I joined Prophet," he said.
"It's offering the kind of clarity and predictive intelligence the industry desperately needs."
"Having worked across agency, client, publisher and consultancy roles, I've seen firsthand how powerful it is when brands have a clear view of what truly drives performance — and that's exactly what Prophet delivers.”
Sawyer's remit includes driving growth across the Sydney and Brisbane markets, strengthening relationships with brands, agencies and partners, and positioning Prophet as the vendor partner for predictive decision intelligence.
He reports to chief growth officer Paul Veltman.
Sawyer comes to Prophet following a 25-year career in media, marketing and sales across the Asia Pacific region.
His career includes experience as managing director AUNZ at TotallyAwesome, and 13 years with Ikon Communications (part of WPP) most recently as managing director in Sydney and Melbourne.
He has also worked as head of media at Foxtel and in senior roles at Carat and DDB. Most recently, Sawyer has led his own consulting business for the communications and marketing sector.
"Prophet is growing rapidly, and as our customer base continues to expand across Sydney and beyond, strengthening our presence on the ground is key to accelerating our next phase of growth," Jordan Taylor-Bartels, CEO of Prophet, said.
"We've onboarded more than 30 enterprise customers to date, and that momentum continues as more companies recognise the power of decision intelligence."
Prophet is the brainchild of Taylor-Bartels, a former Hyperloop global marketing lead, and Sean Taylor, a former Ogilvy and VMLY&R Commerce CEO. The Melbourne-based business launched in Australia in August last year.
