IPG Mediabrands Australia has launched its inaugural Impact Week, running from August 11 to 15, bringing together all agency brands for a coordinated week of volunteering and community work.

Employees across the country will step away from their regular roles for a day to contribute to social causes in their local communities.

“This inaugural Mediabrands-wide Impact Week marks a proud moment for our business in Australia,” said Mark Coad, CEO at Mediabrands Australia.

“For the first time, we’re uniting all our agency brands under one purpose, stepping out of the office at different times throughout the week to give back to the communities we live and work in.

“The energy, collaboration and shared sense of responsibility shown by our people as we embrace a week-long set of activities, speaks volumes about the culture of Mediabrands.

“It’s this spirit of unity and action that will drive meaningful impact, not just during Impact Week, but in the way we show up for our communities all year-round.”

Previously run within individual agencies, this year marks the first time the initiative spans the entire Australian network, following APAC’s Impact Day on July 18.

“Contributing to the communities we live and work in is important for all of us at Mediabrands,” said Jackie Beck, MD ANZ at Orion Worldwide and lead for this year’s Impact Week.

“Throughout the year, we work together as a business to support different partners and charities and many of our people contribute to their communities in meaningful ways, but Impact Week brings that charitable contribution together for maximum impact.

“Each event throughout the week involves the charity first speaking to the team about their cause, purpose and what they are hoping we can achieve through our work during the day.”

Teams across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane will participate in a range of volunteer initiatives throughout the week.

In Sydney, staff will support Threads Together on August 12 and 13, sorting and packing clothing for those in need, while others will prepare meals at Foodbank NSW from August 13 to 15.

On August 14, employees across all three cities will work with the Starlight Foundation, assembling merchandise packs before heading out to sell them in support of the charity.
