This week we speak toTrent Silins – Founder & CEO, Kopa:

Time in current role/time at the company: 8 months

How would you describe what the company does?Kopa providestechnology that enables transparent, suitable content level media buying, measurement, and brand safety. It empowers advertisers to deliver scaled video campaigns based on unique brand preferences, with precision, control, effectiveness, and trust.

What do you do day-to-day? Cliché to say but just about anything and everything I can. I believe in a business there is no job too big or too small.

Define your job in one word: Dynamic

I got into marketing/advertising/media/tech because: I want to be able to provide the best in transparent solutions that drive measurable outcomes for brands and agencies.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role? Education and understanding on distinguishing the difference between brand safety and brand suitability.

What’s the biggest industry-wide challenge you’d like to see tackled? Putting client brands’ objectives first when it comes to measuring results. Performance should never be associated with the words ‘cheap’ and ‘price’ in the same sentence.

Notable campaigns you have worked on: Pointsbet Spring Racing Carnival, Diageo APAC, Coca-Cola ‘Awakening’  

Who has been a great mentor to you and why? My mother, she’s always seen life as “the glass is half full”. No matter the circumstances.

Words of advice for someone wanting a job like yours? Be bold, be different, and don’t be afraid to push past the status quo.

If I wasn't doing this for a living, I'd be: Attempting to write a book whilst camped out in a run down chateau in the South of France.

My mantra is: Direction is more important than speed

My favourite advert is: M&M’s – “You get in the bowl”

Music and TV streaming habits. What do you subscribe to? Stan’s Billions, docu-movies and anything that has a clever twist that forces you to stream an entire season in one sitting.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you? I’ve curated a bucket list of all the featured restaurants from Netflix series Chef’s Table. The goal is to tick them off before the clock runs out. 11 down… many more to go.

In five years' time I'll be: Wondering where all that time went! And what adventure and challenges are just around the corner.
