The media and marketing industry is mourning the loss of much-loved social media satirist and tech guru Leslie Nassar after he was tragically killed in the US this weekend.

A fundraising page has been set up to help raise much-needed money for his young family.

Nassar, 43, was walking with two of his daughters on a family holiday in Idaho when a Ford pick-up truck allegedly struck the group before fleeing the scene early Saturday morning.

Nassar died from his injuries in hospital and the girls, aged eight and three, were later discharged after receiving treatment.

Police have arrested and charged 20-year-old man Tristian Donovan Myers over the incident.

'An engineering genius'

Nassar was the co-founder of the Wrangling Cats digital production agency and previously worked as chief technologist for Razorfish.

He is famous for developing the ABC's Q&A tweet stream integration and has been described by executive producer Peter McEvoy as “an engineering genius”.

Nassar also ran the popular satirical Department of Australia column on Crikey.

Wrangling Cats co-founder Andrea Horton said: “Our thoughts are with Leslie’s wife, three beautiful daughters and his loved ones. The gap that has been left is one that is truly impossible to fill.”
