The Independent Media Agencies of Australia (IMAA) has announced its inaugural Sound-Byte conference in Sydney Thursday, June 26.
Held at ARN’s North Sydney office, the event will examine the growth of Australia’s audio sector under the theme “Are your media plans in tune with Australia’s growing affection for audio?” It forms part of the IMAA’s Bytes series, which began last year with its Digi-Byte events.
Major audio organisations including ARN, Southern Cross Austereo, Nova Entertainment, Nine, Mamamia, News Corp Australia, and the Australian Traffic Network are confirmed to attend.
Audio measurement firm GfK and industry body Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) are also supporting the event.
IMAA CEO Sam Buchanan said the event comes on the back of continued growth in the audio sector.
“The audio sector is experiencing strong growth, particularly from digital radio and podcasting, with the latest Guideline SMI data for April showing ad revenue growth of almost 13%, its second biggest increase since the COVID pandemic,” he said.
“We’re pleased to bring together key players from across the industry to share insights and experience with our members.”
The program includes a keynote from KIIS FM Breakfast hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O. Other sessions will feature industry speakers from both programming and commercial roles.
IMAA chair and The Media Store COO Jacquie Alley will lead a panel titled Content is Still King: The Art of Entertainment, joined by KIIS Drive hosts Will and Woody, 4BC’s Sofie Formica and ATN CEO Vic Lorusso.
CRA chief commercial officer Jo Dick will moderate a panel on audio’s future, covering measurement and targeting technologies such as AudioID.
A session on podcast strategy will also explore audio storytelling and brand integration, featuring Mamamia’s Belinda Cook, News Corp’s Dominique McDermott, Nine Radio’s Mia Stern and Nova’s Kim Kerton.
A Melbourne edition of the event is expected to be announced soon.
