Ian Frykberg, rest in peace

The media industry is today paying tribute to Ian Frykberg, who passed away at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney yesterday.

A one-time political reporter, Frykberg spent over a decade at Nine before moving to BSkyB as head of news and sport, where he was instrumental in bringing the premier league to the broadcaster.

For the last 18 years he was head of International Sports Television, where he brokered deals between sports bodies and broadcasters. His integrity, shrewd negotiating skills and no-nonsense style won respect from both sides of the table.

Frykberg is survived by his wife and four children.
