As a new generation of independent creative agencies reshapes Australia's marketing landscape, Sydney brand agency Hulsbosch has been quietly doing it for more than four decades.
Founded in 1982, the agency has built visual identities and creative strategies for some of Australia's most recognised organisations, remaining privately owned by Hans and Jaid Hulsbosch.
Hans Hulsbosch said independence allowed the agency to stay true to its core principles without being beholden to corporate boards, shareholders or outside investors.
"Our business is based on these four core pillars: passion, vision, collaboration and trust. Independence allows us to stay true to these principles. We strongly believe in maintaining control over our passion and clarity of purpose, our mission, vision, and growth strategies," he said.
Jaid Hulsbosch said the model kept creative directors and their teams close to the work rather than locked in management meetings.
"At Hulsbosch we build loyalty by developing strong, independent leadership teams that share our passion and vision. This fosters a highly effective collaboration amongst staff grounded in genuine respect which, in turn, creates the confidence that helps our people across all disciplines to feel personally connected to clients and their projects," Jaid said.
Client relationships were central to the agency's creative philosophy.
"Challenging the obvious, embracing risks and shaping the future develops an exceptional trust between staff and client. Ultimately this trust is reflected in the creative outcomes for our clients, which in-turn, their customers embrace," he said.
Hans Hulsbosch said independence had never been more relevant as younger agencies shaped the future of Australia's creative industry.
"With increasingly more young and exciting creative agencies now shaping the future of Australia's creative industry, independence has never been more relevant," he said.
