Highway Patrol overtakes Gruen, tops entertainment

Highway Patrol has stepped up to fill the Bachelorette-shaped hole in TV viewing, with the Seven show topping all entertainment programs, including ABC's hit, Gruen.

Overall, Highway Patrol was the third most watched program of the night, behind Seven and Nine news respectively, picking up 992,000 viewers.

Last Wednesday, the show was the ninth most watched program with 860,000 viewers.

The Block picked up 945,000 viewers as the sixth most watched show of the evening, followed by Gruen which landed steady this week on 904,000 viewers.

Seven's premiere episode of fast-tracked US series, Blindspot, picked up 888,000 viewers as the ninth most watched show of the night. ABC's return of Kitchen Cabinet picked up 687,000 viewers.

By demographic, Nine's The Block was on top, winning the 16-39 age bracket, 18-49 age bracket and the 25-54 age bracket.

Seven won the night on 30.5% audience share, followed by Nine on 27.8% share. ABC picked up 19.2% audience share, followed by Ten on 16.4% audience share and SBS on 6.2%.
