Havas hails Australian office

French group Havas says Australia has led its growth in the Asia Pacific region.

Releasing its quarterly figures overnight, Havas said it had recorded organic growth of 9.5% in the Asia Pacific region.

While the rate of growth is down quarter on quarter, Havas singled out its Australian unit as the best performing in the region.

It said the Australian office's efforts in capturing Defence Force Australia as a new client in December last year was a standout.

More broadly the group recorded a 6% uplift in organic growth during the third quarter, adding 415 million euros in new business.

While the pace of growth was down by 24% quarter-on-quarter, it was still above its nine-month figure of 5.8% after a slow start to the year.

While all growth is good growth, the pace had slowed in key markets around the world including North America, Asia Pacific, and the UK.

However, its performance in continental Europe lifted considerably from 7.4% to 9.4% after suffering 1.3 points of contraction in the first quarter.

The continental European performance flies in the face of economic difficulties faced by the market, with Havas telling the market the growth was the result of strong support from Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Meanwhile in North America the rate of positive growth did slow quarter-on-quarter, but Havas said the healthcare communications sector was growing at a double-figure pace.
