WPP's media agency GroupM has decided to withdraw from Facebook’s global media review.

GroupM's Mindshare has been handling most of Facebook's media bookings for the past seven years.

Dentsu also has part of the business.

"While we will not be participating in the review, we look ahead to future opportunities building on the successful work we created together since 2014," says a GroupM Spokesperson.

"We are proud of the work that our teams and people have done for Facebook and wish them the very best in their media selection process.”

The reason for the withdrawal isn't known. One report suggested Facebook may be asking for new contractual terms around liability in the ad buying process.

GroupM is reported to be working on big pitches, including for Coca-Cola, Unilever and Bayer AG.

Facebook earlier this year put its creative and media accounts into review
