Michael Knox has been promoted from chief creative officer and managing partner of Grey Melbourne to a regional role at Grey Hong Kong. He will take on creative responsibilities at the Hong Kong business.

Knox has been at Grey Melbourne for five years, joining from Ogilvy in 2011.

His role will be split into managing director and creative director, with Claudia McInerney stepping up as MD of Grey Melbourne after eight years at the agency.

An international and local search for a creative director to replace Knox at Grey Melbourne is underway.

Grey chief operating officer Paul Worboys says: “I’m thrilled that we can promote from within. Over the years Knoxy and this team have been focused and bloody minded about driving the creative reputation of our clients’ forward. And testament to that are all the Cannes Lions and Effies won along the way.

“Our Melbourne office is in great hands. It’s brilliant to be able to have such senior leaders like Claudia, Danish, Sally, Lauren and Renee at the helm, as w Michael’s remit within Grey evolves.”

Recently, Sally Richmond and Lauren Doolan have been appointed as associate creative directors for Grey Melbourne along with Renee Luri as design director.
