SYDNEY: Google managing director of Australia and New Zealand Karim Temsamani is leaving his role to head up the search giant's global mobile sales team, AdNews can reveal.

Google has not yet named a replacement for Temsamani, who is due to depart the search giant for his new role on 1st October.

In his new role as head of global mobile sales, Temsamani will lead the development of Google’s global mobile ads strategy and build its mobile business.

Temsamani has been in the role for just over three years, and prior to joining was commercial and group magazine director at Fairfax Media.

Before joining Fairfax, Temsamani was a vice president and publisher at Time Inc, having joined from Hachette Filipacchi, where he was managing director for four years.

Google commands an estimated 93% share of the paid online search market in Australia and has said it intends to quadruple revenue for online display and video advertising in Australia.

Temsamani was recently named as the 12th most powerful media mover and shaker in AdNews' annual Power 50.
