Mobile customer experience (MCX) company Geronimo has acquired data science and analytics company Data Hatch to further strengthen its MCX capabilities to deliver predictive analytics for clients and agencies across the mobile and connected device ecosystem.

Data Hatch is the latest acquisition for Geronimo which purchased near field communication (NFC) specialist Tapit Media and digital creative agency Digital Media Group (DMG) in 2017.

Data Hatch, founded in 2017 by Stephen Wright and Michael Elith, is a data discovery and action consultancy that specialises in data and predictive analytics which allows clients to make commercial decisions with certainty.

It has worked with clients, agencies and consultancies including Jimmy Brings, Cravable Brands, Bohemia, Zenith and Advvy.

The addition of Sydney-based Data Hatch allows Geronimo to further enhance the mobile customer experience by offering data analysis, attribution, customer segmentation, data visualisation, location intelligence, site analytics, customer forecast and modelling capabilities.

Matt Hunt, founder and CEO at Geronimo, says the relationship between the two businesses has grown over the last three years and Data Hatch's proprietary data platform puts it at the "leading edge" of mobile data intelligence.

“They’ve mapped the majority of Australia’s households, so we can now deliver strategies based on where consumers live and work, how they travel and their interests," Hunt says.

"The marketing and media applications are extraordinary, helping drive operational efficiencies and sales growth for companies and brands.”

Data Hatch CEO Stephen Wright says the acquisition will offer Geronimo and its clients "highly sophisticated" data science and analytics.

“As people surge to mobile and connected devices, consumer data is being generated at unprecedented levels," Wright says.

"We are interpreting and combining these data signals with behavioural economics, creativity and technology, to create customer experiences like no other company. We’re delighted to be joining Geronimo at a time of significant business growth.”

Geronimo and Data Hatch formally began working together on September 15, with Wright and Elith joining the Geronimo leadership team.

In August, former BT Financial chief marketing officer Mark Murray became a partner at Geronimo in addition to taking the role of chief operating officer.

Established in 2015, Geronimo works with a number of leading agencies and brands including Blackmores, Tabcorp, Zip Money, Frollo, Vic's Meats and Jurlique.

Its services include business and technology consulting, CX, UX and UI design, integrated creative development, media, data and analytics to connect people, products and brands across the mobile ecosystem.
