Nova Entertainment’s radio station Smoothfm 95.3 in Sydney and ARN’s GOLD 104.3 in Melbourne have topped the charts for Survey 4 radio ratings in 2025 from GfK.

In Sydney, Smoothfm  was the winner with a 12.3 share. 2GB fell to 11.6 from 13.6, while KIIS1065 rose to 10.4 from 9.3.

On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show’s share rose to 13.9 from 12.5, while 2GB's Ben Fordham fell to 14.7 from 16.7.

In Melbourne, GOLD 104.3 climbed to 12.1 from 11.8, while 3AW slipped to 11.9 from 12.5.

The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft dropped to 16.6 from 18.1, while The Christian O’Connell Show on GOLD 104.3 rose to 10.1 from 9.7. The Jase & Lauren Show on Nova 100 maintained its double digit share, finishing up at 10.8 in comparison to 10.2 in Survey 3.

Nine’s national content manager Greg Byrnes said the network’s ratings win in Sydney and Melbourne was “wonderful recognition for Ben, Ross, Russ and their teams".

“And we're also dominating football coverage with 2GB and 3AW the number one stations for NRL and AFL across the weekend,” he said.

“Radio's never been more competitive and we welcome the challenge. With the footy, household budgets and world affairs, there’s plenty to talk about and we thank our listeners for tuning in each day.”

ARN chief audience and content officer Lauren Joyce said GOLD104.3 being crowned Melbourne’s top station for the first time in more than 30 years was an “incredible achievement”.

“The Christian O’Connell Show continues to set the benchmark for Breakfast in Melbourne, backed by standout performances across the day with David Higgo Higgins as #1FM; and Toni Tenaglia and Steve Fitton both #1 overall in their timeslots. I couldn’t be happier for Sue Carter and her team – they are absolutely deserving of this result,” she said.

“Beyond GOLD Melbourne, I’m pleased with many of the results across the country. We’ve driven #1 station results in Adelaide and Perth, and #1 station results in the people 25-54 demo in Australia’s two biggest markets, Sydney & Melbourne.

“Kyle & Jackie O remain Australia’s biggest radio show, with over 1.15 million listeners in Breakfast alone and on a market-by-market basis have improved in both share and cume.”

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said Survey 4 rounds-out a really strong first half of the year.

“The momentum continues with 14 consecutive surveys as the most listened to metro network in Australia, reaching over 6.4 million listeners every week. We have also retained the largest streaming audience in the country, with over 1.3 million people connecting every week,” he said.

“This kind of consistent reach is a credit to our teams who continue to deliver market-leading content built on some of the country’s most-loved audio brands.

“In arguably the most competitive market in the country, Jase & Lauren have helped make Nova 100 the most listened to station in Australia, an incredible result that reflects both the strength of the show and the appetite of the audience.”

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) CEO John Kelly said Triple M claimed the number one position for 25 to 54-year-olds in Brisbane (19.1%), Adelaide (14.2%) and Perth (17.9%).

“The Hit Network also delivered significant growth in network share and cumulative audience, with Brisbane’s B105 and Perth’s Mix94.5 both the Number 2 stations in their respective markets,” he said.

“These results reflect SCA's unwavering commitment to live, local and relevant content that truly connects with metro audiences across the country.

“I’m incredibly proud of everyone on our content teams across all markets who deliver compelling entertainment to millions of Australians every day across the Hit and Triple Networks and LiSTNR.”

SEN’s group radio director Sam Thompson said the results across the network’s AFL programming in particular were really pleasing.

“SEN 1116am continues to cement its position as Melbourne’s home of footy, with strong audience growth across our AFL-focused programming.  From Friday night through to Saturday in particular, fans are tuning in in greater numbers, reflecting our commitment to delivering premium live sport and expert commentary,”  he said.

“These results are a testament to the passion of our audience and the strength of our on-air talent right throughout the week.”
