Melbourne's 3AW and Sydney's 2GB held on to their local dominant positions in the fourth radio survey of 2021.

3AW had a 15.5% share, down 0.1 of a percentage point, and 2GB's share was 11.8%, up 0.1 percentage points.

In second for the Sydney market is KIIS1065 with 10.6% share, up 1 percentage point since the last survey.

But in the important Sydney breakfast slot, 2GB's Ben Fordham (13.3%) is now behind KIIS 1065's Kyle and Jackie O (15.5%).

3AW’s Ross and Russ pulled a 20.8% share for Melbourne Breakfast.

ARN’s chief content officer Duncan Campbell: “Today, Australia’s most successful radio duo, Kyle & Jackie O, make history again as they become the #1 breakfast show in Sydney and for the 20th time secure more listeners than any other breakfast show in the Australia.

“Kyle & Jackie O are world class operators and the show’s ongoing relevance in an ever-changing market shows their strength of connection with the people of Sydney."

Greg Byrnes, Nine Radio’s head of content: “Across the Nine Radio’s talk network we have posted strong growth in the 25-39 demographic where we were up 26%, while in the 40-54s we were up 6%.

“2GB and 3AW remain the clear #1 stations in Sydney and Melbourne. Ross and Russ in Breakfast and Neil Mitchell in Mornings have posted another round of extraordinary results in Melbourne.

"In Sydney, Ben Fordham maintained his audience share and Ray Hadley remains well clear of his nearest competitor in Mornings. We also congratulate Kyle and Jackie O on the result they posted in this survey."
