Five research companies will present their plans for a new online measurement system to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

Market research companies pitching for the tender include Gemius in conjunction with Colmar Brunton, ComScore, Nielsen Online, Roy Morgan Research with Effective Measure, and Vizisense.

IAB chief executive Paul Fisher said: "We’re very pleased with the industry credentials of the tendering companies and the breadth and caliber of responses.

"The TRG [Technical Review Group] is well briefed and ready to examine the submissions in detail over the coming weeks and months. The culmination of this extensive and rigorous process will be the most significant single event in online audience measurement in Australia."

The pitch went out to tender last year, when the IAB announced it is looking for a sole provider of online audience measurement services in Australia

The technical group is being led by veteran media researcher Ian Muir, and includes representatives from media agencies and advertisers.
