Survey 1 radio ratings results for 2024 from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), have been released.

In Sydney, KIIS1065 dropped to 10.5 from 11.5, while 2GB rose slightly to 12.7 from 12.1 in 2023's end-of-year Survey 8. Smoothfm fell to 10.8 from 11.4. On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show's share decreased to 15.4 from to 16.7, while 2GB's Ben Fordham climbed to 16.6 from 16.0.

In Melbourne, 3AW continued their increase from Survey 8, rising to 14.7 from 13.6, while GOLD 104.3 also rose to 11.8 from 10.3. The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft reversed their decline from Survey 8, climbing to 19.6 from 18.1, while The Christian O’Connell Show on GOLD 104.3 saw its share increase by nearly three percentage points, finishing at 11.9 in Survey 1 after 9.0 in Survey 8 . Fifi, Fev & Nick on 101.9 The Fox saw its share rise incrementally to 10.8 from 10.6.

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said the network has started 2024 with 6.4 million Australians listening to NOVA Entertainment across the country, retaining the highest total audience of any metro network.

"We are delighted to see our live and local strategy succeeding across our stations, including record results from our Sydney Breakfast team," he said.

"With exciting changes, including Jase & Lauren in Melbourne, still to hit the survey books, we go into the year knowing we can continue to deliver class-leading content for our listeners and a compelling commercial offering for our clients.”

ARN chief content officer Duncan Campbell said congratulations to the entire team on these great achievements, particularly in Melbourne where Christian O’Connell reclaimed the #1FM Breakfast title, spearheading GOLD’s dominance across all dayparts.

“Kyle & Jackie O continue as the top FM breakfast show in Sydney, boasting an impressive cumulative audience of over 850,000 listeners, while KIIS 1065 has attracted record cume figures," he said.

"With the unveiling of the pair’s new, cutting-edge studio earlier this week and the show’s eagerly anticipated Melbourne launch on the horizon, we’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

“It’s also great to see Max & Ali’s continued growth in Adelaide, solidifying their position as the #2FM show. These results highlight our commitment to delivering unparalleled content and further establish ARN's position as a leading force in Australian radio.”

Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, said these are stunning results for 2GB and 3AW.

"To begin the Olympic and Paralympics year in such a commanding position, particularly in Breakfast and Mornings, sets talk radio up for another year of market dominance," he said.

“Our always on, live and local content has never been more important and we thank our loyal listeners for making us a part of their lives.”

SCA chief content officer, Dave Cameron, said the powerful combination of the Hit and Triple M networks together has delivered an outstanding No.1 10+ share result nationally, with SCA continuing to also convincingly win the key buying demographic of 25-54 for a record 21 surveys in a row.

“SCA dominates Brisbane with outright #1 and #2 radio stations, with B105 taking out the overall win, driven by the Stav, Abby and Matt Breakfast show. Likewise, our Triple M Adelaide Breakfast show, Roo, Ditts and Loz, celebrate their eleventh #1 Breakfast show win, and we’re excited to see Mix 94.5 return to the outright number one station in Perth," he said.

“In Melbourne, The Fox has delivered another strong increase in Breakfast with Fifi, Fev and Nick the most listened to Breakfast show in the city, alongside Triple M Melbourne, led by The Marty Sheargold Show, delivering its best result since 2016.

"These results reinforce that the Hit Network and the Triple M network together remain an unbeatable partnership that leads in overall national audience share and key commercial buying demographics. My sincere congratulations to all our content teams and powerhouse shows around the country to deliver these spectacular results today to kick off an exciting year ahead for SCA.”
