Finder launches Two Broke Chicks’ podcast

Global fintech Finder has released its first podcast series, Two Broke Chicks, in partnership with NOVA Entertainment’s Podcast Network. 

The podcast, released every Wednesday, is hosted by Finder journalists Sally McMullen and Alexandra Hourigan – known as Sal and Al. 

The series explores money and life lessons through the lens of two twenty somethings in the midst of a global pandemic.

From landing full-time jobs, to getting dumped and getting on top of your finances, the besties and their guests will authentically share – and overshare – their mistakes and musings to help other Gen Z and Millennial women to live their best lives. 

“Two Broke Chicks was born to help share some of our own personal successes and financial mishaps so you can avoid the mess and live your best life. Our dream for this podcast is to feel like you’re sitting down with your gals, having a fun time and learning something along the way,” says Hourigan (Al). 

Each 30 minute episode promises to be packed with relatable stories and, importantly, finishes with actionable takeaways. Over the season, the gals will be joined by the likes of Sarah Davidson (entrepreneur and host of Seize The Yay podcast), Chantelle Otten (sexologist and author) and Allira Potter (Spiritual Healer & Psychic). 

McMullen (Sal) also reassures that the podcast won’t be your typical dry life advice program: “With the help of our guests, many laughs and too many embarrassing stories, we’ve created a show that’s a chill chat with the chicks about everything you need to know to survive – and thrive in – your 20s.” 

Two Broke Chicks aims to fill a void in the podcast market for young women who want to tackle life’s challenges head on - from careers and finances, to relationships and wellbeing. 

According to Hourigan (Al), “Your twenties can be bloody tough and there’s no guide book to teach you the life lessons before you learn them the hard way. ‘Two Broke Chicks’ will cover everything you need to know.”

Jeremy Cabral, chief operating officer at Finder, said the company believed investing in a lifestyle podcast for young women was an obvious decision. 

“We know younger Australians like to consume information in new and varied ways, they value personal recommendations over paid advice and have a high BS detector,” he said. 

“A podcast hosted by two journalists navigating their 20s will help bridge the gap for this audience by making the everyday less mundane and more relatable. All while delivering it in a format that is easy to digest.” 

Two Broke Chicks launched October 13and is available on Apple podcasts, the Google Podcasts, Spotify, the Nova Podcasts Player and all major podcast platforms.
