Five titles are set to battle it out for the top honour in the 2015 Australian Magazine Awards, with this year's awards focusing on overall brand of the titles as opposed to just their printed publications.

Pacific Magazine's Girlfriend Magazine, Bauer Media's Cosmopolitan title, Frankie Press' Frankie Magazine, and NewsLifeMedia's and Vogue Magazine are all lining up for the Brand of the Year gong.

These titles join a myriad of others in the 18 categories, who are lining up to be named the best of the best.

It's a fierce battle between publishers this year, and in some categories publishers are even going head to head within themselves – with Bauer, NewsLifeMedia and Pacific each taking out all the finalist slots in one category. Bauer titles have had a clean sweep of the Website of the Year category, NewsLifeMedia titles are set to battle it out for the Food and Entertainment Magazine of the Year gong and it's just Pacific titles in the running for the Native Campaign of the Year – consumer award.

The AMA entries were judged last week in Sydney and chairman of judges, MEC's CEO James Hier, said: "It is always inspiring to see how media owners respond to the challenges of the market and during the judging of the AMAs we saw some solid examples of magazines successfully managing their brand across a growing number of platforms – expanding beyond print to digital, mobile, events and even their own branded products.

“The winners, to be revealed next month, are indeed the most innovative magazine brands in the country and provide great examples of where the industry should be heading," he added.

The winners will be revealed at a breakfast held at the Ivy Sydney on Friday 13 November, where this year's entrant into the AMA Hall of Fame and The U-Turn Award will also be announced.

The AMAs are being sponsored by Priceline Pharmacy and general manager marketing for the business, Mark O'Keefe, said: “Priceline Pharmacy is thrilled to be involved with the Australian Magazine Awards, celebrating the highlights and successes that the publishing industry has delivered over the last 12 months. The role of magazines in helping to surround consumers with relevant and differentiated messages is so important and we’re excited to see the brands strive for excellence through continued innovation.”
