Facebook's advertising revenue jumped 56% to $US28.58 billion in the June quarter as the social media platform lifted the average price per ad.

The company says result was driven by 47% year-over-year increase in the average price per ad and a 6% lift in the number of ads delivered.

The number of daily active users was 1.91 billion on average for June 2021, an increase of 7%. Monthly active users was 2.9 billion as of June 30, up 7%.

The company expects ad revenue growth during the rest of the year to be driven primarily by increases to ad prices.

"We had a strong quarter as we continue to help businesses grow and people stay connected," says Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO.

"I'm excited to see our major initiatives around creators and community, commerce, and building the next computing platform coming together to start to bring the vision of the metaverse to life."
