Former Fairfax group marketing director and Mi9 marketing director Jeff Lim has joined taxi app and payment company Ingogo.

Lim joins Ingogo from Nine Entertainment Co, where he was marketing director for Mi9, ninemsn, 9jumpin and the Daily Mail Australia.

He was previously global head of marketing at The Travel Corporation for the AAT Kings Group and spent a number of years at Fairfax Media, where he was marketing director looking after the Domain, Drive and MyCareer brands.

In the newly created position at Ingogo, he will lead the marketing function and have overall responsibility for strategy development, brand positioning, campaign execution, product development and content.

He joins the company at a time when Ingogo has expanded its driver network nationally into Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide and plans to launch its passenger solutions in these new markets soon, after being live in Sydney since 2011 and Melbourne since 2014.

Lim said Ingogo is working with some great agencies and will be launching some “exciting campaigns” in due course.

“It’s great to be working with Ingogo, which has shifted from being a startup to a fast-growing tech business, and shaken up the Australian taxi industry in the process,” Lim said.

“Disruptor brands like Ingogo are forcing us to change ‘the way we’ve always done things’ and I’m looking forward to being a part of that by helping Ingogo along its growth path.”

Hamish Petrie, founder and CEO of Ingogo, said Lim has been appointed to help build the marketing functions in order to support and foster growth.

He said Lim will be driving a number of key marketing initiatives to further grow the business and will lead the marketing and product teams and make some new hires in the next six months to help support this growth.

“We want our marketing efforts to reflect the innovative culture here at Ingogo, so we are thrilled to have a leader with Jeff’s experience and expertise on the team,” Petrie said.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from some major companies as well as a strong background and interest in the startup space.

Ingogo recently launched a revamped app and formed a major partnership with accountancy cloud software provider Xero for a small business service; as well as a partnership with leading expense management solution Concur for taxi travel expenses.
